Welcome TO SCRAP ACADEMY!
I’m sew glad you’re here.
This course is designed to be fun and stress-free. There’s enough perfectionism in the quilting industry, let’s let our hair down and have some FUN!
Relax and enjoy the process. Remember that the key to a scrap quilt that you love is to use fabrics that you love. There’s no shame in tossing a scrap in the trash because you don’t like it. You’re an adult. I give you permission to “waste perfectly good fabric.”

downloads:The backbone of the course: this book gives you the layouts + cutting instructions for 68 quilt blocks and 34 different layouts (that’s over 15,000 different quilts, BTW)
My exact method for sorting and cutting scraps so that you actually use them. Over 2,000 people have organized their scraps with this guide!
Want to play with layouts before you ever sew your first stitch? The Canva templates allow you to plan your block + color placement (free version of Canva is fine!)

part 1: the magic rainbow scrap quilt:
Watch the videos below to learn to sort, cut, and sew your quilt scraps into a rainbow quilt that looks like improv, but skips the chaos. (click the little triangle in the middle of the video to press play!)
part 2: Crumb-pieced triangles:
Those pieces that were too small for the first quilt? Don’t throw them away just yet! We’re going to piece them into super-cute HSTs.
Part 3: scrappy big-stitch binding:
My signature finish! I love hand quilting, but it’s so time-consuming. Adding a scrappy, big-stitch binding lets you use up those leftover 2.5” strips, and gives it a hand-finished feel without hand-quilting the whole thing!
thanks for sewing along!
